OUT OF HOURS

If you feel you need medical attention when the surgery is closed and that this will not wait until surgery next opens three options are available to you.

1. NHS Direct

For health information or advice you should contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647. Click here   to access NHS Direct On Line.

2. Walk-In Centre

NHS Walk-in Centres offer fast and convenient access to a range of NHS services, including health information, advice and treatment for a range of minor illnesses (coughs, colds, infections) and minor injuries (strains, sprains, cuts).

The centres are run by experienced NHS nurses, and you don't need to make an appointment. The nearest Walk-in Centre is:

3. North Yorkshire & York Primary Care Trust Out of Hours and Answering Service

If you need URGENT medical attention and require the assistance of a doctor then you should telephone 0845 056 8060.

A specially trained telephonist will take your details and pass them to the doctor at Selby Hospital. The doctor will then call you back, and after discussion with you, will either give you advice on what to do, ask you to attend the hospital, or arrange a home visit. A lack of transport for a non-urgent problem will not be acceptable as a reason to expect a home visit; therefore, it is possible you will be asked to attend the Primary Care Centre based at Selby War Memorial Hospital.

Please note, it is important that if you feel you require medical attention out of hours, you should always make contact by telephone initially, rather than calling unannounced at the hospital.

To ensure that your records are complete, details of all out-of-hours consultations are passed to us

and are retained in our own medical records system  as well as by the Co-operative.
